Dr. Chakrabarti has been a Psychiatrist for over 30 years, both in the NHS and private practice. He has been a Consultant Psychiatrist for over 21 years. His early medical training was at The Queen’s College, Oxford University, where he was an Open Scholar. He did his further clinical and psychiatric training at St. George’s Hospital, London.

He has experience in Adult General and Crisis Resolution Psychiatry. He also has spent time in Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatry, in both in-patient and community settings. He has an all round base in his expertise, including working in inner-city and more rural areas, he thus has a multi-faceted perspective. He is approved under S12 (2) of the Mental Health Act 1983, since 2000.

He has experience in treating most general psychiatric conditions for both adults and in later life. These include depression, anxiety states, bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, OCD and he also specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.

He is keen on psychotherapeutic/psychoanalytic techniques including holistic approaches, nutrition, lifestyle, faith/belief systems. He is also very interested in mindfulness-based treatment modalities and CBT. He has led mindfulness/transformation workshops for organisations including the Ministry of Defence. He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry Special Interest Group (SPIG) in Psychiatry and Philosophy/Spirituality. His special interests include anthropology and mythology and their relevance to the healing traditions. He is very interested in Neuro-cognitive/contemplative studies interface and quantum metaphysics and their relations to depth psychology. He likes art, literature and composing music and has worked with musicians of repute in the past.
